Workshop on "Stress Management and Coping Skills" at Dickey Tsering Childrenhome, Bhumesthani, Kathmandu

On Friday, Drokpo Nepal conducted a workshop on "Stress Management and Coping Strategies in Daily Life" at Dickey Tsering Children Home. The program was attended by 12 participants (4 males and 8 females) from grades 6 to 8, ranging in age from 11 to 14 years. The majority of the participants were homeless children.

Objectives:
- To raise awareness about stress management and coping strategies.
- To provide mental health education.

Methodologies:
The workshop focused on group discussions, stress management games, and
encouraging active participation. The presentation was delivered in Nepali to ensure better understanding.

Materials Used:
A projector was utilized during the session, and A4-sized papers were distributed to collect feedback from each student. Visual aids related to the topic were also displayed for better comprehension. Additionally, chocolates and pencils were awarded as incentives for active participation.

Learning Outcomes:
The workshop highlighted the importance of psychoeducation for children. It became evident that mental health education is crucial not only for students but also for teachers, families, and the community. The feedback suggested that regular mental health programs, ideally once a month, should be integrated into the school curriculum.

Feedback:
According to the written feedback, the majority of the students were pleased with the program, particularly enjoying the games. They reported learning about the causes, symptoms, and various techniques to manage and release stress.

Outcome:

The awareness program at Dickey Tsering Children Home left students feeling happy and content. Many of them expressed confidence in their newfound knowledge about stress causes and management strategies.
