On Friday, 9th August 2019, Drokpo Nepal conducted a workshop on "Stress
Management and Coping Skills" for Class 8 students at Manjughoksha Academy.
Objectives of the Program:
- To help students recognize and understand their stress in detail.
- To identify symptoms associated with stress.
- To teach coping strategies such as relaxation and mindfulness techniques.
The workshop had a total of 39 participants, consisting of 18 females and 21 males. The session commenced at 1:30 PM with greetings and a brief introduction of Drokpo Nepal by Miss Dechen Wangmo. Following the introduction, attendance sheets were distributed to verify the students' presence.
The speaker engaged the students right from the start by asking interactive questions, encouraging them to share their thoughts on stress. Through a PowerPoint presentation, the facilitators explained the concept of stress, helping the students identify its symptoms.
Additionally, various stress management techniques were discussed, including
relaxation training and mindfulness exercises. Toward the end of the workshop, the students shared fond childhood memories, followed by an anger management test to assess their emotional responses.
The program was successfully completed within the scheduled time.
Feedback from Students:
- Many students expressed interest in having more videos for a better
understanding of the topic.
- They suggested incorporating more motivational talks and stress-related games
into future workshops.
- Some students felt that the session was a bit long and suggested shorter
sessions to avoid boredom, while others wished for individual counseling at
school.
Several students showed interest in volunteering at Drokpo Organization in the future. They learned how to acknowledge stress and use practical coping strategies, particularly during exams and school-related pressures.
Overall, the workshop proved to be highly beneficial as it equipped the students with valuable tools to manage their stress effectively. It also highlighted the importance of providing more workshops for youth, who face stress daily due to academic pressures.
Furthermore, students expressed the need for regular counseling sessions at school to support their mental well-being.
