The Khata, also known as the Tibetan ceremonial scarf, is a traditional offering deeply rooted in Tibetan and Himalayan culture. Typically made from thin, flowing fabric in white, blue, yellow, or green, it symbolizes respect, goodwill, and blessings. White Khatas are the most common, representing purity, sincerity, compassion, and good intentions. Often adorned with auspicious symbols, prayers, and mantras, the Khata plays a role in life events from birth to death.
Traditionally, Khatas were woven from sheep’s wool, pure cotton, or silk. Over time, mass production shifted toward polyester, a synthetic fabric that dominates the market today, most of it originating from Ranyi township near Chengdu, southwest China. While durable, polyester raises environmental concerns due to its non-biodegradable nature.
To address this, we proudly present our eco-friendly, biodegradable Khatas made from 100% natural fibers. Designed with both tradition and sustainability in mind:
Khata: Decorated with Tashi Tagye (Eight Auspicious Symbols), crafted for spiritual offerings and ceremonies.
This approach not only minimizes environmental impact but also reconnects communities with authentic, time-honored practices that were naturally sustainable. Choosing these biodegradable offerings means honoring tradition while protecting the future.
